Let’s Be Kind To One Another

Yesterday it was the anniversary of my mom’s passing and today it’s “World Kindness Day”.

It’s the perfect combination that inspires me to express certain feelings.

My mom was such an intelligent and beautiful woman, who sadly suffered from depression, which led her taking her own life at the age of 46.

My brother and I were just teenagers at that time. and I admit, I was so self-centered  that I couldn’t recognize her cry for help.

After I realized that she was really gone, forever, I experienced lots of pain and blamed myself for being so blind, unable to stop the course of her destiny.

No matter how life goes on, every year, on November 12, those memories kept resurfacing, while bringing to light the tragedy of “suicide”.

But this year I have decided to celebrate this day releasing those bad memories and dedicate love and joy to my mom.

I see her surrounded by the energy of the bright colors of life itself.

I LOVE YOU MOM!

Now, I’m the mother of two teenagers and it’s very painful to hear about the many suicides happening between young people in today’s world.

I follow my kids on social media and I’m very concerned about the hate and lack of kindness that circulates through those posts.

The “bullying factor” is what brings children who suffer from depression and lack of self-esteem to take their own life.

This time I’m here for my children!

I teach them that it only takes a small act of kindness to lift others up.

Making someone’s else feeling loved and accepted, sometimes it may really change the course of their destiny.

Let’s be kind with one another and as responsible adults, let’s teach our children to become compassionate.

I’m very grateful for my own children growing up as kind human beings.

HAPPY WORLD KINDNESS DAY!

  1. Appreciating, “Let’s be kind with one another and as responsible adults, let’s teach our children to become compassionate.” Both sets of actions are so important right now in our world that honors, promotes, and reports HATE and HATERS. Big healing hugs whooshing its way to you–I can’t imagine the grief that you carry for your mother. This post made me say “I LOVE YOU” to my mom who at 85-years young, is happy and healthy.

  2. Accept my sympathy on the loss of your Mother. It must have been really hard. I lost my Father at almost the same age and I took quite a while To come to terms with the loss. Am happy because your experience has built in you so much kindness and love for your children and others.

    1. Thank you Leila! I am so sorry for your loss as well. I can imagine how hard it is. I have learned that through struggles we need the courage to move forward and accept challenges as blessings. It seems impossible when you’re in the midst of it, but later on you can truly appreciate the positive changes that manifest within yourself.

  4. Thank you for sharing your very personal story. We learn from our parents, make adjustments and then pass the knowledge on to our children in hopes they experience a better life than our own. I love and appreciate how you are honoring your mother. Sending you much love.
